Our favourite London geniuses Knit were hard at work yet again to create a stunning wall display at Renault‘s main interactive stand of Clerkenwell Design Week 2015. We were tasked with not only showcasing the display and Renault’s stunning concept car DeZir itself, but the unique interactions passers by had – there were many! The wall is created using several HD TVs housed in a bespoke wall, giving the effect of a wall of camera aperture irises. We won’t go into the technical details (because we don’t really understand them!), but the finished product is as stunning as it is intuitive.
To showcase Knit’s incredible interactive wall of aperture irises for motoring giant Renault at Clerkenwell Design Week 2015.
From the brand – “Renault provided the first glimpse of the concept car, DeZir, at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. DeZir stands out as an illustration of the brand’s commitment to more emotional styling.”
Always delighted to be taken down to London, we were briefed on-site with the shortlist of must-have shots and got right to filming. The objective was simple: capture interactions and create parallels between DeZir and the display wall. The wall of aperture irises was directly influenced in their form and colour scheme by aspects of the DeZir, so it was important to drive this feature home in the video. The display was placed directly at the mouth of the enormous exhibition space, so we weren’t starved for genuine interactions from passers by. Crew from Renault were on site to provide rationale for both the beautiful DeZir, but also for the interactive wall. We opted for a “stand back and keep out the way” style of shoot, giving a more reportage un-intrusive outcome – the Clerkenwell building had several excellent vantage points at varying angles which we used to our advantage.
