Peatreekers

OVERVIEW

There are few things we love more than whisky and the beautiful Scottish countryside. When we were asked by MadeBrave to help launch the exciting new whisky brand Peatreekers with beautiful content filmed all over Scotland, we were thrilled to be part of this new journey. Founded by Calum Leslie, Peatreekers explores the darker side of whisky and a murky, illicit past that too few whisky enthusiasts know about. It was our pleasure to help share this story.

OBJECTIVE

To create branded content for Peatreekers, a new whisky brand founded in Edinburgh.

BACKGROUND

From the brand “Peatreekers was founded for one purpose, and one purpose alone – to bring the stories of the darker side of whisky back to life.”

SHOOTING

We had massive plans for this shoot as soon as the initial idea was brought to us – we’ve wanted to work with an exciting whisky brand since day one, and Peatreekers was the perfect fit. We kicked things off with three short interviews shot in Edinburgh (many thanks to the teams at Bryant & Mack Private Detectives & Balmoral Hotel). These short interviews would set the tone for the project. We wanted a moody, almost secretive vibe to match the illicit distilling of the original peat reekers.

The next part of the journey took us and 7 others to the stunning Glencoe in a 1960’s VW campervan which would be our lodgings for the night. After a full day of shooting run-and-gun style footage as well as aerial, we set up camp on the banks of Loch Leven and warmed ourselves by the fire in between capturing the spirit of the trip – whisky.
